The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress 2018, one of the largest international meetings of surgeons in the world, convened October 21–25, 2018, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to the scientific program, the ACS held the annual Convocation Ceremony, Sunday, October 21, 2018 where LSU Health Shreveport Department of Neurosurgery’s Dr. Bharat Guthikonda was conferred as a Fellow of the ACS.
Dr. Guthikonda is a Professor and Director of Skull Base Research in the LSU Health Shreveport Department of Neurosurgery. He joined the faculty in 2007. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Cornell University, where he graduated Magna cum Laude and in the top three percent of his class. He received his professional training at Baylor College of Medicine.
Guthikonda currently serves on the LSU HSC Shreveport Admissions Committee and serves as a Senior Medical Student Mentor and 3rd Year Student Promotions Committee Member at LSU Health Shreveport. He also has many statewide and national leadership appointments including serving as an AANS Neurosurgery Resident Mentor, member of the AANS Communications and PR Committee, and a past member of the Joint Washington Committee with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). He is also the Chair of the Medical-Legal Committee of the Council of State Neurological Societies (CSNS) and the current President of the Louisiana Association of Neurosurgeons (LANS). He also serves on the Awards Committee of the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) and has served as a faculty member for the NASBS pre-meeting and summer resident courses.
