The LSU Health Shreveport Department of Neurosurgery Fellowship provides state-of-the-art training, a challenging curriculum with supervised and structured clinical care, interactive learning sessions, instructive presentations, and opportunities in neuroscientific research.
Fellows are given the opportunity to attend weekly general surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery case conferences, monthly neurosurgery morbidity/mortality, monthly neurosurgery grand rounds, and bimonthly journal clubs. In addition to these educational symposiums, fellows are also given the opportunity to attend annual neurosurgical conferences that have accepted their research-related posters and abstracts for presentation.
The LSU Health Shreveport Department of Neurosurgery accepts graduates of U.S. residency programs, as well as foreign medical graduates.
Skull Base Fellowship
July 2019-June 2020
On behalf of the Neurosurgery Department at LSU HSC Shreveport, we are very pleased to invite interested graduating neurosurgery residents to apply a comprehensive endoscopic and open skull base fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year. We will offer an excellent combination of clinical and research opportunities. The clinical component will consist of all aspects of complex intracranial surgery, including endoscopic skull base surgery, aneurysm/AVM surgery, complex skull base tumors, cerebrovascular bypass, acoustic neuroma surgery, awake craniotomy techniques, and intraventricular endoscopy.
The research component (which takes place concurrently with the clinical duties) will consist of a combination of anatomic based cadaveric projects and clinical / outcomes / technique based projects. New project ideas are encouraged. We enjoy an excellent collaborative relationship with our ENT department and the fellow will be an important part of this greater team.
