Tabitha Ward earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Centenary College of Louisiana in Biology in 1998. She went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Northwestern State University School of Nursing.

Before working as a nurse, Ward worked for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry as an Agricultural Specialist II, where she ensured adherence to the laws and regulations for the division of weights and measures. As part of her duties in the Department of Neurosurgery, she assists and coordinates research and clinical trials, educates patients and families regarding illnesses and procedures, and schedules tests. She has direct patient care working in the Gamma Knife radiation center. Prior to joining our team, she worked as a Registered Nurse II in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and in the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport.

She is certified by the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) as a CNRN, which requires specialized training in: neuroanatomy and physiology, neurological assessment, increased intracranial pressure, crainiocerebral injury, brain and spine surgery, seizures, central nervous system tumors, neuromuscular disorders, neurodegenerative disorders, neuro-infections, neuro-vascular conditions, stroke and pediatrics.

She also works as a sexual assault nurse and collects medical evidence for sexual assault victims. She performs exams, interviews and supports victims of sexual assault. Ward is a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses.
