Frank Farokhi grew up in the Carolinas and Georgia.  He received an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, SC.   Frank attended Emory University, where he received the Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship, a full-ride academic scholarship.  He graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Spanish with the goal of becoming a bilingual physician.  At Emory, he conducted research with Dr. Reza Saadein and Dr. Jack Eichler to synthesize and characterize chemotherapeutic gold salt compounds.

Frank followed his family to Chicago, where he attended Rush Medical College.  Intent on becoming a surgeon, he conducted surgical research with Dr. James Kerns and Dr. Mark H. Gonzalez to develop novel techniques to enhance the regeneration of peripheral nerves.  Through his research, and away rotations at The University of Chicago and Loyola University Chicago, he found neurosurgery to be his true passion.

His current interests are neurosurgical oncology, pediatric neurosurgery, and spine surgery.
