Dr. Elizabeth Wild grew up in St. Louis and Chicago. She attended Columbia University in the City of New York, where she planned to become a high school science teacher, earning a BA in Biochemistry with a concentration in Education from Columbia College. After graduating, she taught general and AP chemistry at Stuyvesant High School, a math/science magnet school in lower Manhattan. While teaching, she realized a desire to further pursue her science education. She earned an MS in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University, leading to a decision to pursue a medical career. She earned her MD degree from Loyola University Chicago. During and prior to medical school, she explored her interest in neuroscience through research on neuropeptide Y, arginine and NO pathways in depression, and quality assurance in stroke diagnosis and treatment, ultimately discovering a passion for neurosurgery.

 

Her primary neurosurgical interests are neuro-oncology and functional neurosurgery. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys distance running and cycling.
