Dr. Anil Nanda Speaks at annual conferences in South Africa

Shreveport-Bossier, LA – Department of Neurosurgery Chairman and Professor Dr. Anil Nanda discussed historical significance of leadership figures Winston Churchill, General Jan Smuts and Mahatma Gandhi at the Society of University Neurosurgeons (SUN) annual meeting July 27-31 and neurosurgery’s relative ties to topics found in art and literature at the 26th Annual Society of Neurosurgeons of South Africa (SNSA) Congress August 3-6. 

Dr. Nanda’s talk, “Tales from the Veld: Churchill, Gandhi and Smuts,” which he presented at both the SUN and SNSA meetings, addressed cultural and historical impacts of the Boer Wars in molding world leaders, Winston Churchill, Mahatma Gandhi, and General Jan Smuts.

Dr. Nanda also presented “The Unbearable Lightness of Honesty in Neurosurgical Complications” while at the SNSA conference which he related key topics derived from literature and art and their relation to neurosurgical procedures that today’s doctors face.
